“Only transcendental philosophy knows the path. Only the illumined reason can carry the understanding part of man upward to the light. Only philosophy can teach man to be born well, to live well, to die well, and in perfect measure, be born again.” Manly P. Hall
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LA LA LONDON! It’s been one year - ONE YEAR! - since I launched this newsletter. In March 2021 I was adventuring myself trying to balance my passion for food and my passion for the stars and my other passion for writing.
Things got completely a new light from the moment I read the following on the Artist’s Way: “In other words, if I have a poem to write, I need to write - it doesn’t matter if it sells or not. (…) As an artist, my self-respect comes from doing my work.”
To celebrate it differently, apart from the traditional recommendations for each zodiac sign, I was thinking of a format where I could share by topics what I am reading, planning to go and tips from the Astros. So here we go!
A Netflix movie or series…
… Fidelity, the new Italian Netflix original series in 6 episodes based on the novel of the same name by Marco Missiroli. I love Italian productions and was really missing something like this.
A playlist…
… Thievery Corporation’s songs always amaze me! The Richest Man in Babylon is my favourite album so far. <3
A table you’ve been waiting to book…
…. Session Arts Club, definitely. Loving that Clerkenwell is expanding its dining scene!
Next destination in London to visit…
… Temple Church, as a good Scorpio.
A book to read…
… “Tarot”, edited by Taschen. “The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down” by Haemin Sunim and “Attached”, by Dr. Amir Levine and Rachel S.F. Heller M.A.
An app…
… Sanctuary. The best design to check horoscope and an excellent in-deep into your own natal chart and its meanings.
Where you can find me…
…Pophams Bakery for my morning cappuccino, I’ve been a lot recently to the Dusty Knuckle and Coal Drops Yard. But in general, I’m always around Upper Street.
Where you are planning to go…
…Can’t wait for my winter holidays in Valle d’Aosta, in the Italian Alps. The region is famous for ski resorts and the stunning views of Mont Blanc.
A site/blog…
…Astro.com. The best in astrology, which means out-of-this-world interpretations of your natal chart. Have a sneak on their free-try editions! Used by the best astrologers in the world.
A horoscope you trust…
… The weekly from British Vogue. For monthly forecasts, Susan Miller, always.
A curiosity about you…
… I love weekdays and I don’t like Spotify. Apple Music is my thing.
Aries
The Art of Banksy is extended through 2022 with an unauthorised private collection of this British artist who loves to keep us guessing.
Taurus
Trampoline is now open! This cafe in a pretty little corner in artsy Camden Passage has the aim of supporting small producers and training and employing refugees, shining a light on their upward journey.
Gemini
Noci will open in Islington Green on the 11th. (Great) pasta, fried starters and cocktails are expected.
Cancer
The Brazilian singer Marisa Monte will bring her sweet voice in the summer to London at the Barbican and tickets are available to book!
Virgo
We love street food, don’t we? Market Halls brings the best food halls in one place and is currently located in Victoria. This month, they are expanding to Canary Wharf and Oxford Street.
Leo
Head this winter season to BAO, with locations in Kings Cross, Borough, Soho and Fitzrovia. Inspired by travel and culture in Asia, the menus centre around the fluffy pillows that envelope an assortment of fillings, a traditional street food snack you would find in Taiwan.
Libra
My dear friend who is a Libra suggested to me Titanic: The Exhibition. Now extended until mid-April due to high demand, it boasts over 200 original objects never seen before in the UK. Connect with the Titanic’s passengers, listen to their testimonies, and discover their stories through their belongings.
Scorpio
One of the best discoveries of 2022 so far is Café Cecilia. Overlooking the canal, it has a simple decoration and an honest menu full of fresh ingredients that appeal to the hipsters. Even if the name is Portuguese to our surprise, the menu has Italian classics and a French twist.
Sagittarius
Life Between Islands is a must-see in Tate Britain this month. The exhibition explores the work of artists from the Caribbean who made their home in Britain, alongside other British artists whose work has been influenced and inspired by Caribbean themes and heritage.
Capricorn
Meat People is again business as usual. After a break due to staff shortage, the restaurant in Essex Road with Argentinian and Uruguayan steaks is back and this is a reason to celebrate.
Aquarius
Marylebone is now the house of a new feminist pub. Yes, you read it right. Flowerhouse has the mission to support women from all backgrounds and ages in the hospitality industry, encouraging flexible working hours for mothers returning to work, aiming to help balance a traditionally masculine-heavy industry.
Pisces
The Bob Marley One Love Experience will showcase in the Saatchi Gallery unseen Marley photographs and memorabilia whilst immersing its audiences on a journey through his lifestyle, passions, influences, and enduring legacy.
Thank you for reading. I’m also doing it for you. Thank you for your feedback, your trust, your time. It’s valuable. For more years to come! Happy March. x, NB
